Butuan is geographically located in Agusan Province, in Northeastern Mindanao.  This place used to be Agusan del Norte's Capital until the capital was transferred to the adjacent Cabadbaran City in 2000.

See:
National Museum Butuan.
Features ancient artifacts such as jars, ceramics, and hand tools signifying trade between Butuan and neighboring areas. From the City Center, you can ride a tricycle going here.
Entrance Fee: P20 / person

Balangay Excavation Site
Shows the site where one of the ancients Balangays was discovered.
From the National Museum or City Center, you can hire a tricycle.
Entrance is free, but donations are appreciated.

Magellan’s Landing Site
Located on a hill few kilometers away from Butuan’s main road. You can ride a jeep (the one with airport sign) and tell the driver to drop you to the foot of Magellan’s Landing Site.

Gaisano Mall
Located at the heart of the city, you can find a supermarket, fast food chains, movie houses, and other boutiques here.


Eat:
Uncle Sam’s Burger (Malvar Avenue, Butuan. Located near City Hall)
Enjoyed the crispy tadyang, nilagang isda and hipon here.
Price ranges from P200 to P300 per person on a typical meal setup.

Margie’s Kitchen (JC Aquino Avenue cor T Guingona Sr Ave)
Meals vary from Rice to Pasta, to Sandwiches, Cakes, and Pastries.
I’ve enjoyed their pesto meal.
Price ranges from P150 to P300 per person on a typical meal setup.


Stay:
Gloreto Guest House (Ilang Ilang St, Ochoa Ave, Butuan)
A typical hostel setup with a restaurant inside. We took a two-bed place. Hot shower, TV, aircon, wi-fi available.
Price: P1,400 for our room. (~P460 per head)
